    Fundraising

Fundraising is the most important part of your participation in Bike MS. All participants, regardless of age, are required to raise a minimum of $100 to participate and all donations must be turned in prior to receiving your rider packet and bib number. In 2008 Bike MS NYC participants went above and beyond by raising an average of $517 per rider.

    Fundraising 101

    1) Set a goal.  All participants, regardless of age, are required to raise a minimum of $100 (this is seperate from the registration fee) by September 18 in order to receive your rider packet and bib in the mail-both are needed to participate.  If we do not have your required $100 minimum by September 18th you will be required to attend a rider check in the week of the event. * Please note: the $100 fundraising minimum is in addition to your registration fee.  Rider packet materials and rider bibs are MANDATORY for anyone riding in Bike MS.

    2) Set up your online fundraising campaign by personalizing your Web site and sending e-mails from your participant center.  Be sure to share why you are riding on both your web site and your e-mails.

    3) Kick off your fundraising by making a personal donation.  When your donors see that you are financially committed to the cause, they will support it too.  After you have sponsored yourself, ask everyone you know to support your efforts to join the movement towards a world free of MS.

    Plan a fundraising event!

Fundraising events are a popular way for individuals and teams to meet their fundraising goals.  Fundraising events may include wine and cheese parties, silent auctions, date auctions, pollen nights or garage sales.  Many local restaurants will host a fundraiser by contributing a percentage of their sales from a specific night to you.  In most cases, they will only require that you invite guests to the restaurant, and notify them of your party’s affiliation with the Society.  Contact your favorite eatery to see if they will contribute to your fundraising success!

The New York City Chapter can support your fundraising events in the following ways:

-A staff member may be able to attend your event.

-We will provide materials about multiple sclerosis, and the Society.  It is very important to remember to incorporate the mission of a world free of MS into your event.

-We will provide the Bike MS logo for your events (within our branding guidelines). Please note all logo usage must be pre-approved by chapter staff.
